About Our Hospital

Message from the Administrative Director

From PED to Long Fusion

In our hospital, the latest cutting-edge technologies and techniques for spine surgery are almost all available.

  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy (PED) is a surgical method developed for intervertebral disc hernia and lumbar spinal canal stenosis in recent years approaching the lesion through only an 8mm skin incision
  • Minimally invasive surgeries such as microendoscopic discectomy (MED) require only 16 – 18 mm of skin incision
  • Multi-level fusion surgery for spinal deformity or instability

Symptoms of spinal disorders can be alleviated with conservative medical treatments such as medication, injection, rehabilitation and braces for a number of patients. However, to prevent serious complications, functional disorders and subsequent complications, and to improve quality of life, surgeries are often preferred.

The main objective of our hospital is to provide highest quality, safe and reliable techniques and technologies for patients who require surgery. Once an accurate diagnosis is made, the best treatment for a patient is studied in a conference by physicians, mainly specialists for spinal disorders, before the final decision is made. As our commitment to provide a safer and securer treatment environment for our patients, we involve multiple number of physicians in treating one patient.

When more than one treatment method is available, we explain benefits and risks of each method including conservative treatments in easy to understand plain terms so that each patient is informed well enough to be able to make the final treatment decision.

Our objective is to provide a medical treatment that best suits each individual, and that is well explained in easy to understand plain terms for each patient.

Message from the Hospital Director

I am pleased to introduce our surgical hospital for spinal disorders here at Sangubashi in Shibuya-ku.
Spine surgery is an area of surgical treatment specifically for “backbones”.
Cervical or lumbar disc hernia is a well-known spinal disorder, which is more common among younger population. In contrast, cervical spondylotic myelopathy or lumbar spinal canal stenosis caused by aging related degeneration is relatively common among middle aged and older population.

In either case, due to symptoms like neuralgia, numbness, motor paralysis of upper and lower extremities, and sensory disorders, it causes grave difficulties in daily and social life.
There are cases that symptoms are alleviated with medical treatment without surgery. However, there also are many cases that specialists for spinal disorders consider surgery as a better and recommended treatment.
In our hospital, specialists for spinal disorders thoroughly examine each patient. A highly trained medical care team provides a technically advanced surgery, postoperative care, and rehabilitation. In the end, we consider that a surgery can facilitate recovery and a patient can return to a daily life sooner.

Despite the convenience of the location at Sangubashi in the center of Tokyo, we can offer a quiet environment overlooking the forest of Meiji Jingu for you as a patient to rest and recover. Hospital rooms and a rooftop garden are designed to create a restful and calming ambience.
We are committed to become a light at the end of the tunnel for you who have endured pain, numbness and anxiety for a surgery and to make you feel relieved to be in the hands of experts.
If you have a concern about your neck or back even without severe symptoms, we believe we can help you eliminate the concern with suggestions for a daily life or instructions by a physiotherapist as preventive measures, or an examination as a “complete spinal checkup”.
Regardless of your level of discomfort, we are here to help you.
